About the Company

We're a global company and a leading provider of practice management software products for law and professional services firms worldwide - particularly large law. In this region we have a large development team in Auckland, and 2 'client facing' offices in Melbourne and Sydney. We are a strong adopter of Microsoft technologies and a Microsoft Gold Partner.

We support over 3,100 clients in more than 30 countries, representing:

  • 77 of the top 100 global law firms
  • More than 88 percent of the Am Law 200
  • 21 out of the top 40 Australian law firms

About the role

  • Are you the sort of person who mentally corrects the spelling and grammar of your friends Facebook posts?
  • Are you happy explaining to your grandparents how to get an iPad connected to the wifi?
  • Do you have a discerning eye for detail?

If the answer is yes to these questions, this is a great opportunity to start your career in the software industry working alongside our development teams based in Albany on the North Shore.

We have an ambitious product launch schedule which provides a great opportunity to be working on documentation for a stack of new products and applications. Far from sitting on the sidelines, you will be an integral part of the development and design process - actively involved and working very closely with the product teams and technical experts. You will be responsible for your own projects, creating high quality documents, application help, and instructional videos for a range of external audiences.

Your team forms part of a larger Research and Development group which is split between Auckland and Tallahassee in North America. Together the R&D group are responsible for developing and maintaining our products, which are sold and supported around the globe.

What you'll be doing

  • Creating and maintaining the standard documentation set for our applications (in accordance with our style guide):
    • User Guides/Online Help
    • Customisation Guides
    • Administration Guides.
  • Creating and maintaining instructional videos for our applications.
  • Collaborating with the development teams for the creation of the standard release document set for our applications (using our templates and guidelines):
    • Release Notes
    • Installation Guides
    • Setup Guides.
  • Working with the other tech writers in the maintenance of the Documentation Team shared resources, including:
    • Templates
    • Style Guide
    • Documentation Wiki.

  • Willingness to learn – you’ll be eager to learn and figure stuff out and love to be challenged.
  • Qualifications - you’ll have recently completed an appropriate tertiary qualification
  • Technology Background – we’d prefer someone with a strong interest in IT and an aptitude for understanding and working with technical information. For example, reading specifications and other materials to obtain knowledge of how our software works.
  • Experience with HTML would be an advantage, but not a necessity.
  • Tools experience – we are comprehensive users of Microsoft Word, and it’ll help if you are familiar with a help authoring tool like Flare, or a video recording and editing tool such as Captivate or Camtasia.
