If you're skilled at creating easily understood written content for a range of audiences, then the Ministry of Defence has an exciting opportunity for you!

We're seeking an experienced Content Writer to work with Defence personnel to turn complicated information into effective content that supports the end user to do their job well. This content will be published on the Capability Management Framework intranet.

The Capability Management Framework sets out the roles, processes and responsibilities involved in the delivery of military capability projects. This role will make an important contribution to building the capability management system Defence needs now and in the future.

The Content Writer is a new role that will support the Defence team to significantly update the content of the Framework so that it reflects best practice and drives performance in Defence Capability management. On completion of this project, the Content Writer will play an important role in maintaining and developing the content.

You will work closely with business owners and users to ensure that the information on Defence capability management is current, relevant, and easy to access and understand.

To be successful in this role you will be experienced in the creation of written content and be used to working with stakeholders of all kinds to ensure the end product meets their needs. You will also be able to identify when visual elements (such as diagrams or process maps) would be beneficial to further inform the user.

You will also have:

  • Highly effective content writing skills, with a proven ability to draft content that adds meaning and makes information quick and easy to understand.
  • Ability to identify and apply best practice for content writing.
  • A collaborative and facilitative working style.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • An ability to multi-task and effectively manage time to deliver excellent results.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (such as Communications or Journalism).

Experience with visual design would be beneficial, but is not required.
