November 2016
The only constant is change. Here at TechCommNZ we strive to keep our members informed of international trends in our industry. Recently, we have outdone ourselves. For some years now, mindtouch has been producing an annual list of the 25 most influential people in our industry. Coming in at number three is internationally renowned Content Strategist, Rahel Anne Bailie, whom we recently brought out to run workshops in three of the main centres. One of the three judges who chose the 25 this year was Scott Abel, the Content Wrangler. He is the keynote speaker at our Collaborate conference in 2017. But the really interesting aspect of the list is its name, Top 25 Content Strategist Influencers for 2016. Previously the list has been called the Top 25 Tech Comm Influencers. So Content Strategy really is the New Black. Does this mean all technical communicators are really content strategists? Follow the link in this month's Let's Tech Communicate (to "How to tell if you are a Content Strategist") to see which one you are. |
From the PresidentThis month I've got a little bit excited about a few things, including the idea that academics might ask practitioners for advice on what needs researching in our field. I'm also pretty thrilled that we have some new talent contributing to the newsletter, and of course I'm buzzing from all the new ideas I've gleaned from conferences and workshops in October. |

Conference Reports: From Clarity to UX and BackTechCommNZ waved the flag at three conferences in October (which is why we postponed Collaborate 2017 to next April – for a breather!) Here's our round-up of the month's events. |
